P4C Monthly Meeting: School Boards - Everything You Wanted to Know

P4C's January meeting is all about school boards: how they work, current issues, why you should run, and HOW to run.

School boards are in the news. You know they are important. School boards set the vision, goals, and policy for a district. So how can you affect your school board?

Come hear from the people who are affecting change. Our speakers this month include people who have run for the board, recently elected members, and a veteran school board member.

Margaret Harrell served on the D205 school board for eight years. She is also a founding member of the Backyard Caucus.

Emily Shultz (D45) and Cary Weisgram (D44) were elected this past spring. They were part of the DuPage for Progress slate of progressive candidates. Cary is also a former teacher.

Laurel Schrementi ran for the board in D205 in 2021. She is a former teacher and current instructional designer for online higher education.

Come learn why school boards are important, what makes a successful campaign, and how you can make an impact from experienced candidates!
